About The Position

We are currently recruiting a Grounds Technician to join our Landscape & Conservation branch. Reporting to the Land Manager, the Grounds Technician is responsible for contributing to the maintenance and beautification of our Arboretum grounds and collection areas. This is an essential position which may require work during emergencies and/or outside normal work hours. The Grounds Technician role is a full-time, year-round position. Some of the specific responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: Perform basic and routine grounds maintenance tasks to include but not limited to mowing, weeding, raking, mulching, pruning, watering, and planting. Assist with tree and shrub removal; provide chipper support. Operate and maintain a variety of standard equipment and tools, such as mowers, edgers, transport vehicles, golf carts, pruners, etc. Remove leaves, debris and litter from Arboretum grounds. Perform invasive plant removal. Respond to inclement weather and/or emergency conditions (Emergency Response Team). Assist with snow, ice and storm debris; address Arboretum hazards. Assist in event preparation, including set up, tear down and staffing. Qualifications: High School diploma or General Education degree (GED); or an equivalent combination of education, training, and education. Ability to obtain and maintain Ohio Pesticide Applicator License, CPR/First Aid certification, and Grounds Technician Certification through PGMS (Professional Grounds Management Society). Keen attention to detail. Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal). Ability to work in all types of weather conditions. Availability to work evening and weekend hours as needed. Valid driver’s license and evidence of insurability. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Requirements
