About The Position

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: The Grounds Technician Senior performs skilled duties in specialized landscaping, tree-work, and maintenance of county-owned properties. The Senior Technician directs the activities of ground worker crews, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures. This role performs upkeep of plants and landscaping, maintains irrigation functions, operates and maintains specialized equipment and assists Operator teams with specified duties, performs integrated pest management, keeps records of pesticide use per regulation, maintains and constructs stormwater infrastructure. Senior Technicians perform high level functions such as monitoring the progress of subcontractors and acting as a lead worker, providing supervision and guidance to a small crew. SCHEDULE: This position operate s on a sea sonal schedule, Monda y-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:00 pm in the winter months; Tuesday - Friday , 6:00 am - 4:00 pm in the summer months. Must be available to respond to emergencies and snow removal operations 24 hours a day/seven days a week. Must report to the assigned shop within one hour of being called. COMPENSATION: Hiring Range: $ 28 .45 - $ 33. 11 USD Hourly Comp ensation will be determined based on education, experience and skills. Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum three years
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • License/Certifications: Must po ssess a valid Class B or A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Air Brake restriction removed and Tanker Endorsement as well as a valid Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card within 12 months of employment.
  • Must po ssess a Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) Qualified Supervisor pesticide applicator license with the following endorsements: Ornamental, Industrial Right of Way, and Turf within 12 months of employment.
  • Must be able to use and ma intain truck-mounted pesticide injection equipment within 12 months of employment.
  • Must be able to use and maintain tree injection equipment within 6 months of employment.
  • Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong background on landscape irrigation scheduling, troubleshooting , and repair .
  • Knowledge of c entral control irrigation system operation .
  • May be required to obtain certificates on Maxic om ² hard ware and software.
  • May be required to acquire an ASSE backflow prevention tester certification.
  • May b e requi red to earn an ISA Certification.
  • May b e requi red to obtai n a Flag ger, Traffic Control Supervisor, Stormwater Management, and/or Erosion Control certifications.
  • May be required to obtain a Hazmat endorsement.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled upkeep of plants and landscaping.
  • Perform planting, pruning, and removal of trees.
  • Maintain irrigation functions.
  • Perform vegetation and erosion control.
  • Maintain and construct stormwater infrastructure.
  • Monitor the progress of subcontractors.
  • Operate and maintain specialized equipment including pesticide spray truck, GPS mapping system, boom truck, chipper, and pneumatic tree injection equipment.
  • Maintain records as required by regulations.
  • Perform and report backflow prevention assembly tests as required by regulations.
  • Perform integrated pest management.
  • Record pesticide applications and use to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Must be available to respond to emergencies and snow removal operations 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by reporting to your assigned shop within one hour of being called.
  • Perform leadwork which may include making daily work assignments for others and reviewing the work assignment upon completion.  May provide recommendations to an employee’s formal supervisor regarding other employees’ performance reviews, minor disciplinary actions, hiring, pay, and termination decisions.
  • Responsible for assisting with the basic development and training of fellow employees.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
