This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn's 2nd Generation launch vehicle. You will be a key contributor to developing launch sites dedicated to this new, highly capable launch system that leverages the success of the current generation. Blue Origin is dedicated to building a road to space and are seeking a Level 3 Hydraulics Engineer to join our team. This position involves developing and implementing hydraulic systems that actuate massive vehicle integration and launch mechanisms. The ideal candidate will have experience in fluids and thermal systems, engineering principles, and the ability to work in a fast pace, collaborative environment. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. Requirements

  • Four-year aerospace or mechanical engineering degree (or similar discipline).
  • 5+ years of experience designing hydraulic systems for aerospace/oil/gas/or similar industries.
  • Experience with Solid modelling or plant modelling, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and configuration control of engineering and documentation.
  • Experience in hydraulic / fluid systems modeling and analysis.
  • Proven hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting mechanical/hydraulic systems.
  • Experience writing and executing test plans and procedures for qualification, acceptance, and operations of hazardous and/or safety critical components and systems.
  • Experience understanding fabrication and installation drawings.
  • Knowledge of standard components, installation, and fabrication methods of piping systems (pipe stock, fittings, connections, valves, fasteners, structural members, fittings, welding, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with creating process hazards analyses, job hazards analysis and formal risk evaluation.
  • Experience creating fabrication and installation drawings.
  • Knowledge of marine environment corrosion mitigation (material and coatings selection)

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and test ground hydraulic systems used for the actuation of integration and launch mechanisms.
  • Develop conceptual and detail design of hydraulic subsystems for launch support systems, including detail and assembly drawings, and specifications.
  • Draft and review specifications and statements of work for both internal and supplier guidance.
  • Oversee equipment fabrication, assembly, and installation, and active involvement in functional checkouts and commissioning of equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate hydraulic systems into launch pad infrastructure.
  • Prepare technical documentation and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Ensure designs comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical input for continuous improvement.
