1. Care of Grounds: A. Under the direction of the Director of Grounds and Equipment, maintain all lawns with weekly mowing, trimming, blowing, lawn aeration and renovation, leaf mulching, watering, fertilization, over seeding, pre and post emergent herbicide application, pesticide, and fungicide treatments as needed. B. Assist in the maintenance of all flower beds with weekly edging, weeding, mulching, watering, feeding, planting, dividing, deadheading, pruning, leaf and debris removal. C. Assist in the maintenance of all ornamental trees and shrubs with pruning, watering, feeding, and mulching. D. Obey any applicable codes and standards. This includes doing all work in a safe manner as well as protecting the community from any danger relating to construction hazards. E. Work in a professional manner paying close attention to details. 2. Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance: A. Assist the Director of Grounds and Equipment with the maintenance of all vehicles and equipment used to carry out daily tasks in accordance with the already established maintenance schedule and logging system. 4. Trash & Recycling: A. Under the direction of the Director of Grounds and Equipment, systematically remove all trash from any outdoor trash receptacles on campus. This includes but is not limited to trash from the Bayer, Calhoun, and RUF houses. B. Under the direction of the Director of Grounds and Equipment, periodically take any scrap metals and old appliances designated for recycling to the appropriate facilities. 5. Security/Health & Safety: A. Maintain a safe campus by meeting all OSHA safety requirements. All maintenance and repair work will comply with or exceed all applicable codes. Make corrections to meet code, insurance and any safety requirements in a timely manner. B. Operation of some equipment, as well as vehicles, may be required. This includes but is not limited to mowers, chainsaws, trimmers, skid steers, gators, and pick-up trucks. These should be operated at all times in a safe and courteous manner with regard to yourself as well as those around you. Special attention to detail should be given when this equipment is in use to help prevent accidents. This equipment should only be used after proper training has been conducted and approval is given by the Director of Grounds and Equipment. C. In the event of a snowstorm, coordinate with the Director of Grounds and Equipment when to report to work. 6. Campus Day: A. Assist the Director of Grounds with the organization of materials, tools, and supplies before the morning of the event. B. Manage and assist volunteer crews to complete assigned tasks correctly, on time, and in a professional and safe manner. C. Assist with all clean up and storage of all materials, tools, and supplies before leaving for the day. 7. Emergency Response: A. Respond to related departmental emergency situations. B. Rearrange priority of work schedule to accommodate any emergency situations. C. Assume further responsibility as appointed by the Director of Grounds and Equipment, Director of Facilities and Operations, or the Facilities and Operations Managers. D. Refer to the seminary's Emergency Response Manual for procedures and details on what your responsibility is and what to do incase of a major emergency. 8. Collateral Duties: A. Perform all collateral duties as assigned when and where to achieve or complete tasks. Perform any duties that consist of helping, serving, and giving assistance to others, not necessarily planned or scheduled.
