About The Position

The Grounds Maintenance position at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Memorial Park & Crematory involves performing all grounds keeping and maintenance tasks to maintain the overall appearance of a cemetery, mausoleum, or funeral home location. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferred.
• Minimum of 1-year grounds experience.
• Cemetery grounds experience is strongly preferred.
• Valid state issued driver's license in good standing and acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to operate large and medium scale equipment including riding mowers, backhoes, tractors, and power lifts.
• Ability to read a cemetery map and correctly identify and locate specified interment/entombment spaces.
• Bilingual is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks of grounds maintenance requiring knowledge of use and general maintenance of mechanized equipment including lawn equipment such as weed eaters, walk-behind mowers, hedge trimmers, edgers, pruners, and leaf vacuums/blowers.
• Set up and complete interments and entombments, including excavating graves to the proper level, assisting with lifting and placing caskets on lowering devices, and removing, replacing, and lifting crypt and niche fronts.
• Correctly identify and locate specified interment/entombment spaces within the cemetery on cemetery maps.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
