JOB SUMMARY The Liberty County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for the part-time position of Grounds Maintenance Worker within the Building Maintenance Department. This position is responsible for maintaining the grounds of county-owned buildings and facilities to ensure a clean, attractive, and well-kept environment for employees and visitors. MAJOR DUTIES Rakes and blows leaves around county building, grounds, and parking lots. Mows grass of all county property along with edging and weed eating. Picks up trash and debris on the grounds. Spreads fertilizer across lawns around county buildings. Uses herbicides to control weeds and pesticides on ant beds. Inspects and services irrigation systems; installs new valves, bodies; repairs broken pipes; and sets timers at control station. Plants and transplants trees and bushes. Completes daily inspection of county vehicle and sixteen-foot trailer to haul equipment. Washes and inspects other county vehicles as needed. Inspects all equipment before use. Performs daily and weekly maintenance on all equipment including sharpening mower blades, changing oil and spark plugs, and cleaning air filters. Assists in the supervision of community service workers who are assigned to grounds maintenance. Paints parking lot lines and curbs when needed. Moves furniture and sets up tables and chairs for meetings and events when needed. Cleans and sets up voting precincts for voting and other county requirements. Assists in cleaning up spills and other messes within county building after custodian crew has left for the day. Performs related duties.
