About The Position

Opal Foods is searching for a GROUNDS MAINTENANCE PERSON for our Layer Farm in Roggen, CO. This position is responsible for maintaining grounds and performing preventive maintenance/repairs on farm vehicles and equipment. Must maintain compliance with all company policies and governmental regulations including safety, bio-security and animal welfare requirements. This position will work in and on the grounds of the hen houses and must be able to work in a live animal/farm environment. This position will also assist the Production Manager with other projects and duties as needed.

Requirements

• Previous grounds maintenance experience; front end loader/forklift certification
• Previous vehicle mechanic, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair skills
• Excellent safety habits and organization
• Willing to work off schedule shifts and/or nights when necessary in all types of weather
• Willing to work 6 days per week, including weekend days

Nice To Haves

• 2 years of experience in related roles
• Ability to communicate in English and Spanish

Responsibilities

• Maintain clean and tidy farm grounds using front end loader, mower, weed-eater, and other yard maintenance tools; manage trash and foot-pans
• Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
• Keep vehicles and farm equipment running and operating safely and efficiently by performing regular maintenance and repairs
• Perform preventive and urgent maintenance of vehicles and equipment
• Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments
• Take a proactive approach to issue resolution including root cause analyses and error proofing controls related to down time
• Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment to perform various duties
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work environment
