The Grounds Worker/Laborer performs tasks that primarily require physical abilities and effort involving little or no specialized skill or prior work experience. This position is responsible to ensure the building is maintained as a pleasing, professional business environment, with minimal disruption to building tenants and visitors. performing one or more of the following tasks: mowing grass, using walking-type or riding mowers, trim hedges and edges around walkways, flowerbeds, and wells, using hedge trimmers, clippers and edging tools, prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth, using shears and other hand tools, sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer or insecticide. Job duties also include: planting grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs, watering lawn and shrubs during dry periods, using hose or activating sprinkler system, collects and burns or carts away leaves, paper or other litter; repairing and painting fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails, and outbuildings. May make other minor repairs, general hauling, sweeping and other general work duties as assigned. Physical Requirements: This position is physically demanding in that grounds maintenance workers must be capable of doing physically strenuous labor for long hours, often in extreme heat or cold. This position requires the ability to frequently: push, pull, lift, bend, stoop, walk, and stand. Requires constant exposure to outdoor environmental conditions, noise, varying weather conditions and exposure to dust, dirt, pollen, etc. and traffic. The ability to lift up to 75lbs is required. Manual dexterity is a must; motions with arms and hands are repetitive in nature.
