About The Position

The Grounds, Maintenance, Custodial Floater position at Port Townsend School District involves supporting the District's Grounds, Maintenance and Custodial Department. The role includes a variety of duties aimed at assisting with the upkeep of the District's facilities, equipment, and grounds. This position reports to the Director of Maintenance and Facilities and is subject to the SEIU Collective Bargaining Agreement. The work schedule is 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, totaling 240 days per year, with work hours from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., including a 30-minute unpaid lunch. The position is available immediately for the 2024-25 school year.

Requirements

  • Good health, both mental and physical.
  • Good attendance is essential.
  • Possess the physical capabilities to perform the job, including lifting supplies in excess of 40 pounds.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with all district employees.
  • Neat in appearance and appropriately attired at all times.
  • Ability to maintain a safe and sanitary work environment.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
  • Required to have a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to learn new procedures and techniques.
  • Experience in grounds-keeping.
  • Experience in using grounds-keeping equipment.
  • Experience in custodial work and custodial equipment.
  • Experience in building maintenance.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR and First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

  • General equipment maintenance and grounds upkeep.
  • General custodial duties.
  • Assisting groundskeeper with mowing, weed eating, raking, edging, trimming, and striping.
  • Performing minor maintenance tasks including sink and toilet repair, furniture repair, hanging pictures and wall items, plug and outlet repair/replacement, door maintenance, light bulb and ballast replacement, and minor equipment repair.
  • Using District vehicles to transport products, equipment, furniture, books, surplus, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
