About The Position

Grounds maintenance Foreman will be responsible for maintaining grounds under the supervision of the horticulturalist. This includes mowing, weed-eating, edging, spraying, mulching, tree and limb removal, plugging, seeding, blowing as needed, pruning, etc. The foreman will be responsible for getting the crew started each morning, delegating tasks within the department, supervising on-site jobs and assisting with event setup and breakdown. When required, snow removal, installation of new landscaping beds, application of fertilizer and chemicals as directed by horticulturalist and golf superintendent and other duties as assigned. This position requires the ability to work outdoors the majority of the time and including during times of inclement weather.

Requirements

• Valid Drivers Licence.
• Reliable Transportation in all weather conditions.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to delegate tasks and instruct others.
• Knowledge of using and driving commercial landscaping tools and vehicles.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs consistently for long periods of time.
• Pesticide applicator or registered tech within 6 months of hire.
• Ornamental endorsement within 6 months after that.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and occasional holidays when necessary.
• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per shift.
• 3-5 years of experience with landscaping/grounds maintenance preferred.
• Experience in record keeping for chemical applications.
• Experience with landscape installation.
• Experience applying chemicals and fertilizer preferred, but willing to teach if not experienced.
