About The Position

The position involves working with and assisting the Campus Grounds staff in their daily duties, maintaining assigned areas, and participating in special projects. The role emphasizes practicing cleanliness and orderliness in all work areas, considering other staff, faculty, and residents. It also focuses on developing NACE Competencies such as Career & Self-Development (including practical application of a biblical worldview), Communication (responding to emails, work orders, status updates), Critical Thinking (problem-solving, asking questions), Global Literacy (working with diverse people), Leadership (independent work, identifying tasks), Professionalism (representing the college, considering impact), Teamwork (collaborating with staff and students), and Technology use (email, time submission, time clocks, landscape equipment). The College expects fundamental work habits including doing good work, taking ownership, punctuality, professional dress, making suggestions, open and honest communication, resolving differences scripturally, and attending chapel services at least once per week.

Requirements

  • Landscaping and general lawn maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge in using mowers, weed eaters, rakes, shovels, etc.
  • Enjoy working outside.
  • Able to work independently; self-motivated.
  • Able to stoop and bend.
  • Able to stand for extended periods.
  • Able to work despite allergies to grass, plants, flowers, pollen, etc.
  • Able to work outdoors.
  • Able to distinguish between colors and have sufficient hearing to work safely and cooperatively.
  • Able to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs. regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Work with and assist the Campus Grounds staff in their daily duties.
  • Consider the other staff, faculty, and residents we serve by practicing cleanliness and orderliness in all work areas.
  • Work with Campus Grounds crew on special projects and tasks.
  • Maintain in good function and appearance all assigned areas, bearing in mind that the work of your hands is done as "an acceptable sacrifice to the Lord", and therefore becoming a strong witness to your faith and consideration of all others on campus.
  • Respond to emails and work orders and communicate the status of tasks and projects.
  • Problem-solve and ask questions.
  • Work with different types of people, including staff, faculty, and students.
  • Work independently and observe other tasks that need to be done.
  • Represent the college well when interacting with the community, considering how the work being performed will impact the campus.
  • Work with staff and other students to complete a job.
  • Use email, time submission, time clocks, and landscape equipment.
  • Do good work.
  • Take ownership of your job.
  • Be punctual.
  • Dress professionally and appropriately for your job.
  • Make suggestions when appropriate.
  • Communicate openly and honestly.
  • Seek to resolve differences in accordance with the scriptural patterns summarized in the Staff Manual policy on Fair Treatment as well as the Grievance and Appeals Procedure.
  • Attend chapel services at least once per week, on average.
