This position, titled Groundperson, is a full-time, non-exempt role reporting to a Foreperson or General Foreperson. The role involves using chainsaws to cut brush, logs, and stumps, primarily working from the ground. Responsibilities include loading and unloading trucks with debris, feeding brush into a wood chipper, and gathering brush. The work environment involves hazardous equipment, excessive noise, and exposure to various weather conditions and natural elements like irritating plants and insects. The Groundperson will also work on rough terrain and is expected to help enforce safety practices, safeguard employees and the public, and cooperate with emergency services when necessary. Training for tree and bucket rescue is provided. Additional duties include applying herbicides and growth regulators, driving trucks with attached chippers or trailers, maintaining a clean and orderly work area, servicing equipment, and reporting maintenance needs.
