About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), Space, Intelligence and Weapon Systems (SI&WS), Ground and Mission Systems Engineering (GMSE), is looking for an Associate or Experienced Ground Systems Engineer (Level 2 or 3) to join their team in Seal Beach or El Segundo, California. The SI&WS GMSE division creates next generation products and services for the BDS business unit, working with both commercial and proprietary customers in the development of next-generation technologies in space. The team focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers, covering all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements, design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments. The Ground SEIT Engineer will join a high-performing team immersed in high-intensity development projects, with opportunities to work on proprietary programs for U.S. government customers responsible for advanced technology national security missions.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
2+ years of experience with systems engineering
2+ years of experience Real-time Satellite or Space Systems Operations
Experience with system integration, testing, and troubleshooting
Experience creating and documenting test plans/procedures, executing tests, analyzing results, and/or creating test reports
Experience in Ground System systems engineering, including requirements analysis, design, and operation
Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance with an adjudicated CI/FS polygraph
U.S. Citizenship Required
Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements (U.S. Person)

Nice To Haves

5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with development of Command and Control, Mission Management, and Mission Planning software systems for Ground Systems
Experience with Ground Systems maintenance and modernization
Experience with virtual Ground station hardware
Experience in software coding, scripting, and troubleshooting
Experience using C++ and Linux
Experience with JIRA and Confluence
Experience working with Government customers

Responsibilities

Monitors operations and evaluates space vehicle performance to ensure mission success.
Documents and assists in resolving system anomalies.
Supports the design, development, and implementation of complex systems and infrastructure solutions through a program modernization effort across various Ground test environments and operational facilities.
Ensures the system architecture aligns with the program’s operational requirements.
Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.
Performs analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.
Develops the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.
Resolves cross-functional technical issues.
Interfaces with cross-functional teams, senior leadership, and external customers.
