About The Position

Akima Facilities Operations (AFO) is a rapidly growing government services provider that has a full-time opening at Fort Carson CO, for a Appliance Mechanic position for the Maintenance Department.

Responsibilities

The appliance repair mechanic (technician) identifies issues with appliances, analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds and maintains commercial kitchen appliance, such as refrigerators and freezers, ovens, stoves, grills, fryers, microwaves, walk-in coolers, coffee makers, juicers, ice machines, food processors, blenders, mixers, dishwashers, and toasters. This worker operates and inspects machines and/or appliances to diagnose defects, dismantles and reassembles equipment, using power and hand tools, examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges, replaces defective parts, and tests equipment to insure operating efficiency. Will be responsible for cleaning parts and assisting others with assembly and disassembly of equipment. Often travel to on site or businesses to perform these tasks and need to be skilled in both mechanical and electrical systems.
Locating and installing the necessary repair or replacement parts. Performing routine maintenance to ensure appliances are functioning efficiently at Field and Sustainment levels of maintenance. Ensures quality of work and required tools and materials are to be used.
Ensures work is complete and conforms to standards and requirements IAW technical manuals, ETM’S, and local SOPs.
Providing estimates, explaining repairs, and advising on future maintenance, analyzing malfunctions, conduct repairs and services to FMC.
Keeping detailed records of the work performed and the costs involved.
Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and understand electrical, hydraulic schematics, and use scanners on commercial vehicle fleets.
Performs initial, in-process and final inspections of work orders.
Assures that equipment and supplies are utilized properly.
Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Lead mechanic.

Requirements

• High School graduate or equivalent with training in equipment maintenance and management procedures at the DS/GS level of maintenance.
• Experience: 6 months to a year, experience in equipment maintenance at the journeyman level. Commercial experience on restaurant/kitchen appliance.
• Must possess and continuously maintain a current State of Colorado Driver’s License prior to starting or by 30 days after employment.
• Must be US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) to obtain a CAC. Must receive a favorable background check and drug testing results.
• Equipment Directly Used: Diagnostic and test equipment; multi-meters, scanner, test set, power and hand tools, test stands, and special tools.
• Physical Demands & Work Environment: Work is generally conducted on site. However, duties may involve the conduct of work in the out-of-doors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions. Work will require lifting to 50 lbs.; stooping; climbing; prolonged standing; prolonged sitting. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required is certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations and published Company work rules. Must be able to deploy with Military unit if required during training exercise down range or National training center. Required to always wear steel toe shoes.
