New Shepard is a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Kármán line - the internationally recognized boundary of space. Through operational reusability, New Shepard supports our mission of lowering the cost of access to space. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will maintain the Ground Support Equipment (GSE) of the New Shepard launch & landing facility as well as the launch vehicle processing facilities. Additionally, the employee will take part in the design review process for new equipment and are responsible for defining maintenance requirements and procedures Ground Support Equipment for launch operations and vehicle processing. New Shepard Ground Support Equipment includes structural/mechanical equipment, transport vehicles/systems, electrical power/RF systems, and launch support systems. You'll share in the team's impact on all aspects of the launch operations and maintenance. The GSE Maintenance Engineer reports to the Ground Manager and will work alongside a multi-disciplined engineering team and technicians to facilitate all needed maintenance and operations. This mission and safety critical work will ensure the launch facility and processing equipment is current on preventative maintenance and refurbishment. You will also identify maintenance consumables help to define the on-hand spare requirements for GSE. You will draft and review work orders for routine and corrective maintenance procedures, understand configuration of the equipment, and be proficient in the contents of all system safety products involving our equipment. This is a small team that delivers results and demonstrates grit in the face of challenges. We work with intra-company functional groups, such as Test and Launch engineering, Integrated Supply Chain, and Quality, as well as contracted vendors to increase our efficiency. Requirements

  • B.S. degree in engineering or related field and direct experience with maintained industrial/heavy equipment, Ground Support Equipment,
  • Hands-on experience maintaining industrial and mechanical equipment that contain electrical, hydraulics, and pneumatics systems.
  • Experience maintaining the hardware involved in electrical systems and audio/video system along the lines of Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), field cameras and mechanical tracking equipment.
  • Capacity to author detailed work instructions for the implementation, maintenance, operation, and corrective actions on GSE systems.
  • Ability to work with responsible engineers across multiple fields to develop maintenance procedures and requirements for the team.
  • Experience with hazardous operations and risk assessment of maintenance procedures and operations.
  • Knowledge of the operations of industrial/heavy equipment and systems such as diesel generators/engines, hydraulic systems, electrical industrial control systems, and mechanical HVAC systems.
  • Ability to analyze maintenance programs and provide statical reporting for component failures and trade replacement or refurbishment/repair.

Nice To Haves

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or strong project management experience.
  • Technical expertise in maintenance program design.
  • Experience with JIRA software.
  • Experience supervising the maintenance of industrial equipment in the aerospace, aviation, oil & gas, automotive or similar industrials.
  • Knowledge of RF communication system maintenance and operations.
