The GSE Mechanic is required to perform skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of vehicles and also equipment such as tugs, belt loaders, de-icing trucks, push-back tugs, air start units, ground power units and other ground services equipment. The GSE Mechanic must be able to analyze, troubleshoot, dismantle, align, assemble and adjust mechanical equipment and machinery to maintain it in efficient operating condition. Work assignments will be received in the form of oral or written work orders, but the employee is expected to determine the nature and extent of needed repairs. Essential Job Functions: Provide vehicle troubleshooting and diagnostic repairs. Actively participates in the Safety Management System (SMS). Installation of new and added-on equipment. Conduct first, second, and third-line repairs, and modifications on vehicles. Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs to GSE in order to ensure that the equipment is available, reliable, and safe to operate. Monitor parts usage and report on any materials issues. Assist in ordering replacement equipment, parts, and supplies. Accurate completion of work orders and time cards. Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation. Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques. Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to occupational health and safety regulations. Assist in preparing preventative and predictive maintenance schedules. Participate in training to comprehend, implement, and maintain all quality objectives as stated in our Quality Management System to ensure delivery of desired levels of operational safety and security. All employees are responsible for ensuring quality control in their own activities.Cooperate fully with Inspectors to achieve quality inspection commitments. Performs other duties as required. Mechanical or trade school certification preferred, or one-year minimum working in a shop environment. Knowledge of all tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on equipment Computer skills as required. High School Diploma or equivalent18 years old. Possess a valid driver's license. Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background. Work Environment: Normal setting for this job is: Inside and outside with occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions. Special Considerations/Physical Work Requirements: Required to exert physical effort in handling objects up to 50 pounds. Shop environment including, but not limited to, machines, tools, heavy equipment, chemicals, solvents, strong odors, dust, and fumes. Exposure to chemical and lavatory waste. Willingness to work weekends and evenings as required, and be on-call 24/7.
