About The Position

As a Ground Maintenance Mechanic (GMM) in a stationary role at Delta's JFK airport, you will be responsible for the maintenance of stationary machinery and equipment. This includes performing inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and routine maintenance on various ground support equipment. The role requires a minimum of 6 months of experience in an industrial powered mechanical environment and a solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months experience in an industrial powered mechanical environment.
  • Understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic disciplines as they apply to industrial powered systems.
  • High school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Valid driver's license and proficiency in English.
  • Ability to lift items weighing between 50 and 70 pounds.
  • Willingness to work a fixed and/or rotating schedule including afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to read and apply information from technical documents and manuals.
  • Strong communication skills for teamwork and coordination with vendors.
  • Ability to respond to customer needs with minimal direction.
  • Completion of a two-year degree at a post-secondary technical school or related military experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and non-routine maintenance on passenger loading bridges, including interior and exterior components.
  • Maintain air handler hoses, adapters, air filters, and indicator bulbs.
  • Repair and replace gear boxes, bearings, shafts, and belts.
  • Manage the baggage handling system (BHS) control rooms and resolve bag jams.
  • Maintain ground power cables and associated clamping/saddles.
  • Service stationary equipment such as water cabinets, loading bridges, and baggage conveyor systems.
  • Repair small components on specialized equipment like air conditioning adapters and dock light controllers.
