Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One to three years of related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Current EMT-B certification in good standing.
  • Ability to apply sound judgment in interpreting and following medical guidelines.
  • Proficiency in executing procedures in line with established policies and medical directives.
  • Physical capability to operate emergency vehicles, handle medical equipment and extricate individuals from various scenarios.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one (1) year of pre-hospital care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides Basic and Advanced Life Support (BLS/ALS), including medical evaluation, treatment, and stabilization of critically ill or injured patients.
  • Responds to both emergency and non-emergency situations involving potential loss of life or serious injury.
  • Assumes leadership in patient care management at pre-hospital or in-hospital emergency scenes and provides training and guidance to less experienced personnel.
  • Administer prompt and efficient Advanced Life Support to critically ill or injured individuals, utilizing a full range of basic and advanced techniques.
  • Assess and identify medical emergencies, formulating accurate and reasonable differential diagnoses.
  • Perform thorough and critical physical examinations.
  • Anticipate and address potentially life-threatening conditions, implementing emergency interventions as necessary to preserve life.
  • Address both medical and emotional needs of patients to minimize mortality and morbidity.
  • Deliver high-quality patient care in alignment with Air Methods standards.
  • Complete detailed reports documenting patient information and care, including the nature of the emergency, past medical history, treatment provided, diagnosis, disposition, and billing-relevant data.
  • Maintain effective communication with physicians to relay patient status and obtain treatment orders. Follow standard written protocols when a physician is unavailable.
  • Transport patients to medical facilities, working collaboratively with Advanced Life Support providers during transit.
  • Operate emergency vehicles responsibly and safely under all conditions.
  • Clean, maintain, and ensure the readiness of equipment and vehicles.
  • Accurately complete administrative forms and statistics related to patient care.
  • Comply with standard operating policies and procedures as interpreted by Air Methods leadership.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Regular attendance in accordance with company policies is required.
