About The Position

This position is responsible for leading designated shift operations in a meat processing facility while driving safety, food safety, quality, yield, and cost performance. The Shift Operations Manager ensures compliance with USDA, OSHA, HACCP, and company policies while partnering with department leadership to meet production and labor goals. This role leads by example and promotes a culture of accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
  • Experience: 2-5+years industry experience in meat processing (pork or beef preferred).
  • 2-5 years supervisory experience in a processing environment.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, USDA, and HACCP regulations.
  • Skills & Competencies: Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop supervisors and teams.
  • Effective communicator across all organizational levels and regulatory agencies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with sound judgment.
  • Proficient in standard computer applications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee assigned shift operations to achieve safety, production, yield, and quality objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with USDA, OSHA, HACCP, and federal meat inspection requirements.
  • Assist in managing operational costs and labor standards.
  • Determine manpower needs and support staffing recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and reporting.
  • Uphold high standards of sanitation, housekeeping, security, and food safety.
  • Coach, develop, and manage production supervisors.
  • Enforce company policies and support a non-union work environment.
  • Partner with department heads to drive metric performance and continuous improvement.
  • Address operational issues with effective problem-solving and follow-through.
