About The Position

The Ground Associate Splicer at Cityside Fiber is responsible for splicing and connecting fiber optic cables at ground-level locations, ensuring the reliability and performance of fiber optic networks. This role is crucial for maintaining seamless connections, particularly in underground installations, and is part of the Field Operations Department, which focuses on the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic networks for both residential and commercial clients.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree in telecommunications or a related field is a plus.
• Previous experience in fiber optic splicing and knowledge of industry best practices.
• Familiarity with fiber optic testing equipment, including OTDRs and power meters.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in outdoor and potentially confined spaces.
• Valid state driver's license, good driving record, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance.

Responsibilities

• Perform fiber optic cable splicing using fusion splicing techniques to ensure seamless connections with minimal signal loss.
• Test and troubleshoot fiber connections using tools such as Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDRs) to ensure optimal performance.
• Install and maintain enclosures to protect fiber splices from environmental damage.
• Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on underground or ground-level fiber optic cables.
• Read and interpret network diagrams to identify correct splicing points and ensure accuracy in installations.
• Blow micro fiber through micro duct conduits utilizing specialized tools and materials.
