About The Position

The Grossing Assistant helps describe simple and complex surgical specimens. This includes selecting and submitting specimens for various tests. Assist with specimen collection and processing during Fine Needle Aspiration procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
• Less than 1 year of experience

Responsibilities

• Examine, describe, and dissect biopsy and surgical specimens under a qualified pathologist's supervision.
• Prepare and microtome required tissues for frozen section specimens.
• Assist with patient preparation, specimen collection, and processing during Fine Needle Aspiration procedures.
• Assist with specimen collection during kidney biopsy.
• Accession surgical pathology specimens and FNA cases into the pathology LIS following standard procedures.
• Ensure all stains are properly filtered and rotated according to standard procedure.
• Inventory supplies and ensure there are adequate supplies at all times.
