About The Position

Position Purpose (FTYR, Benefitted position) The Grooming Manager oversees all aspects of snow surface preparation and grooming operations to ensure a safe, high-quality skiing and riding experience across the mountain. This position is responsible for leading the team of snowcat operators, coordinating daily grooming plans, managing fleet maintenance priorities with the vehicle maintenance department, and collaborating with snowmaking, lift operations, and terrain parks to meet operational and guest service goals.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in snow grooming operations, including 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of snowcat operation, grooming techniques, and mountain terrain management.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a large team in a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Excellent communication, planning, and decision-making abilities.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record; ability to operate snowcats and other heavy equipment safely.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of grooming systems and grooming management software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and oversee daily grooming operations to achieve optimal snow surface quality and efficiency.
  • Develop and communicate grooming schedules and priorities based on weather, snow conditions, events, and operational needs.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate grooming staff, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor snowcat performance and work with vehicle maintenance to ensure timely service, repairs, and proper equipment utilization.
  • Coordinate with snowmaking, lift operations, and terrain parks to align grooming priorities and resources.
  • Maintain grooming records, reports, and maps to track productivity, coverage, and surface quality.
  • Oversee grooming route planning and fleet utilization to maximize fuel efficiency and machine lifespan.
  • Manage the grooming department budget, including labor, maintenance, and capital requests.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and ensure compliance with company and industry safety standards.
  • Participate in mountain operations leadership meetings and contribute to long-range planning and capital improvement projects.
