The Grocery Sales Associate position at WEIS is for individuals seeking a company that values respect, understanding, appreciation, teamwork, and the growth of its associates and communities. This role is primarily responsible for maintaining a well-stocked, organized, and appealing Grocery department to meet customer demands and maximize sales. Key duties include building displays, stocking and rotating merchandise to ensure freshness, and ensuring products are easily accessible to customers. Associates are expected to store excess merchandise according to backroom organization guidelines. A significant aspect of the role involves positive customer interaction, including greeting, answering questions, and promptly resolving concerns in a polite and professional manner. The associate must apply proper stocking techniques, ensure merchandise is in saleable condition with correct prices and signs, and handle damaged or discontinued items according to company policy. General sanitation in the department is also a responsibility, requiring adherence to cleaning schedules and department guidelines to maintain clean work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases, meeting all health and OSHA requirements. The role also involves proper trash disposal, maintaining productivity standards, work methods, shrink control, and compliance with security regulations. Associates are expected to put out stock at an acceptable rate and may assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries using power or hand jacks (with provided training), and baling cardboard (with provided training). Cooperation with co-workers and supervisors is essential for smooth department and store function. Continuous improvement in job performance and the utilization of company-provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE), such as cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear, are also required. Associates may be called upon to assist in other departments.
