About The Position
The Grocery Sales Associate plays a vital role in ensuring that the grocery department is well-stocked, organized, and appealing to customers. This position is essential for meeting customer demands and maximizing sales. The associate will be responsible for building displays that drive incremental sales, stocking and rotating merchandise to ensure freshness, and keeping products within easy reach of customers. Additionally, the associate will store excess merchandise according to backroom organization guidelines, ensuring a tidy and efficient workspace. Customer interaction is a key component of this role. The associate will greet customers with a smile, answer their questions, and help resolve any concerns promptly and professionally. Proper stocking techniques must be applied to ensure that products are correctly located on shelves, in saleable condition, and accurately priced and signed. The associate may also assist with receiving deliveries, which includes unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing items, provided they have received the necessary training. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the department is another critical responsibility. The associate will follow cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure that work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases are well-maintained and meet health and OSHA requirements. Proper disposal of trash and handling of damaged or discontinued items according to company policy is also required. The associate must maintain productivity standards and comply with security regulations and policies. They will be expected to put out stock at an acceptable rate as determined by company standards and may assist with baling cardboard or other related duties if properly trained. Cooperation with co-workers and supervisors is essential for the smooth functioning of the department and store, and the associate is responsible for continuously improving their job performance. Utilization of all company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory, including cut-resistant gloves and safety cutters. The associate may also be called upon to assist in other departments as needed.
