POSITION SUMMARY: The Grocery Manager oversees daily grocery operations and provides leadership and direction to achieve profitable grocery operations. The Grocery Manager is to continually grow the team's capacity for efficiency, effectiveness, and service to meet the company's succession needs. The individual is responsible for the development of all direct reports. The Grocery Manager is to be a role model of the company by driving results while maintaining company core values.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent required
  • Retail management experience;
  • Customer service experience desirable;
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain is required;
  • Proven experience in dealing effectively with diverse team member/management issues;
  • Possess the ability to effectively coach direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Follow through training, reports and supervision tasks, properly working, clean, full and organized department
  • Develops department schedules, promotions, sales forecast
  • Successfully oversees grocery day and night crew shifts while maintaining retail standards
  • Oversee suppliers invoices and returns
  • Maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for stocking merchandise
  • Requests and ensure proper signage
  • Trains new grocery and receiving employees, utilizing all training checklists and materials
  • Responsible for achieving and exceeding margin and sales targets
  • Controls spoilage / shrink; achieves turn goals and inventory control
  • Orders merchandise for the department per standard practice
  • Ensures strategy is reconciled among company direction and category strategy
  • Requests promotional activities related to seasonal promotions, demo supports, events, etc
  • Determines cause and actions to address and resolve challenges
  • Creates, administers and measures quarterly budgets
  • Store key holder who may be responsible for opening and closing the store if needed.
