About The Position

The Grocery Manager is responsible for directing and managing all facets of the grocery department to achieve maximum sales, productivity, and profits. This role involves supervising and training grocery department personnel, ensuring proper ordering and allocation of merchandise, and maintaining effective employee relations. The Grocery Manager will also oversee billing and pricing accuracy, manage stock levels, and ensure the store presents a clean and well-stocked image. Additionally, the manager will handle damaged merchandise and assist other departments as needed.

Requirements

• High school education required.
• At least three years experience in the supermarket industry.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and gross margins.
• Ability to verify vendor invoices and complete accounting reports.
• Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds (50 lbs.) approximately seventy percent (70%) of the time.
• Ability to retrieve and place merchandise on top racks.
• Must be able to stand upright for most of the scheduled work shift.

Responsibilities

• Achieve necessary sales and profit goals as projected.
• Supervise, train, and schedule all grocery department personnel.
• Assure proper ordering and allocation of merchandise.
• Ensure accurate billing and pricing of all incoming products.
• Submit required orders and grocery surveys on schedule.
• Order necessary supplies for the department regularly.
• Oversee and handle damaged and distressed merchandise.
• Maintain proper stock levels and store presentation.
• Assist other departments to ensure efficient operations.
• Responsible for maintenance and security within the receiving area and grocery department.
• Greet all customers and be observant on the sales floor.
• Maintain a neat personal appearance according to dress code.
• Directly oversee the entire 3rd shift operation.
• Calculate piece counts for clerks as a productivity measure.
• Follow and enforce all company policies and procedures.
