About The Position

The Grocery Fourth Person assists the Grocery Manager and the Grocery Third Person in the operation of the Grocery Department, overseeing various tasks such as supervising personnel, ordering, receiving, and merchandising. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of the store, especially in the absence of higher management, and focuses on customer service and compliance with company policies.

Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of overall Company practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Good leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage and develop people.
  • Ability to maintain composure in dealing with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
  • Ability to work alone with minimal supervision and be a team player.
  • Friendly, courteous, and takes initiative with the ability to concentrate and deal with interruptions.
  • Ability to judge and react to business activity and knowledge of basic mathematics and weights and measures.
  • Knowledge of product variety, product location, and perishability.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods, reach, lift, stack, and maneuver objects up to approximately 80 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders and operate fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.
  • Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Champions Company and Division customer service programs to meet or exceed Division customer service goals.
  • Handles customer relations positively, including effective resolution of customer complaints.
  • Performs ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, stocking, rotating, and merchandising duties.
  • Assists the Grocery Manager and the Grocery Third Person in planning, organizing, and directing day-to-day operations of the Grocery Department.
  • Controls shrink and prevents the sale of out-of-code products.
  • Ensures compliance with Company sanitation, safety, security, and other policies, initiating corrective action as needed.
  • Opens and closes the store, may act as backup cashier, and engages in suggestive selling techniques.
  • Responsible for performing all job duties with accuracy, honesty, and integrity.
