About The Position

The Grocery Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and execution of the Grocery department at Plum Market. This includes managing inventory, labor, merchandising, pricing, and department standards to ensure a full, fresh, and organized shopping experience for our Guests. The Grocery Manager fosters a positive and productive work environment, ensuring all Grocery Team Members are properly trained and supported. This role also plays a key part in achieving margin goals, maintaining operational efficiency, and upholding Plum Market’s commitment to exceptional Customer Service.

Requirements

  • Experience in grocery operations, leadership, and retail merchandising.
  • Minimum of six months’ buying experience for store-level departments.
  • Proven ability to manage purchasing, inventory control, and department financials.
  • Familiarity with planograms, stock rotation, backroom organization, and vendor communication.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Apps and the ability to adapt and learn new software solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 4 hours without a break.
  • Ability to bend and stoop to grasp objects, climb ladders, lift to 50 lbs. unassisted, and push/pull carts up to 100 lbs. unassisted.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of the Grocery department, including ordering, receiving, stocking, rotation, and display building.
  • Monitor inventory levels, manage backstock, and ensure proper product rotation to maintain freshness and reduce shrink.
  • Train, develop, and support Team Members to ensure effective performance and adherence to standards.
  • Execute merchandising resets, promotional plans, and seasonal transitions with visual consistency and accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate pricing, signage, and shelf tags throughout the department.
  • Collaborate with Store Leadership to align department goals with overall store objectives.
  • Foster a clean, organized, and safe department always.
  • Provide clear communication to Team Members and Store Leaders regarding expectations, updates, and department needs.
  • Ensure compliance with all Plum Market policies, health and safety standards, and standard operating procedures.
