About The Position

This position involves completing a 4-12 week training program, with internal training lasting 4-6 weeks and external training lasting 8-12 weeks, in preparation for a department manager role. The role requires traveling within the division to train and provide relief, while creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. The manager will establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customer return, achieve sales and profit goals, and monitor quality assurance standards. The position also involves directing and supervising all functions, duties, and activities for the department, supporting the day-to-day functions of grocery operations, and embracing the company's core values.

Requirements

  • Basic math skills (i.e., counting, addition, and subtraction).

Responsibilities

  • Complete a 4-12 week training program in preparation for a department manager position.

  • Encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service.

  • Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to achieve company/store goals.
  • Establish performance goals for the department and empower associates to meet or exceed targets.
  • Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, company guidelines, and food safety regulations.
  • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome and appreciated.
  • Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
  • Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.
  • Inform and educate department associates about current and upcoming promotions.
  • Prepare and submit seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor.
  • Maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
  • Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs.
  • Plan, organize, and supervise the inventory process.
  • Train department associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO).
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs needed.
  • Report all safety risks or issues, and illegal activity.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in their duties and complete performance reviews.
