About The Position

The Grocery/Dept Leader is responsible for creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service while overseeing the grocery department's daily operations. This role involves ensuring a safe and clean environment, directing and supervising all functions and activities within the department, and supporting the overall grocery operations. The leader will embrace the Customer 1st strategy and promote excellent customer service among associates, while upholding the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service.
  • Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customer return.
  • Direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the department.
  • Support the day-to-day functions of the Grocery operations.
  • Embrace the Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines; ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained.
  • Report all safety risks or issues, and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud; notify management of customer or employee accidents.
  • Train department associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO).
  • Plan, organize, and supervise the inventory process.
  • Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs.
  • Maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions; note any discrepancies in inventory.
  • Assist store management in preparing the store/department budget, profit and loss reviews, and take appropriate action on all financial reports.
  • Monitor and control expenses for the department.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Implement the period promotional plan for the department.
  • Prepare and submit seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor.
  • Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.
  • Understand the store's layout and be able to locate products.
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
