Independently owned and operated by the third generation of the Rands family, we specialize in "Hometown Customer Service." Located within walking distance of Downtown and the Crescent Boat Harbor, we are the stabilizing force for our neighborhood's daily needs. From fresh organic produce to our signature hot deli, we pride ourselves on being a complete grocery store where every guest is treated like a neighbor. You Will Be The Neighborhood Ambassador: You are the face of the Rands family legacy. You provide the authentic, friendly, and reliable service that defines the "Heart of Sitka." The Precision Registrar: You handle transactions with technical accuracy and integrity, ensuring our guests' time is respected and every dollar is accounted for. The Inventory Steward: You take pride in the visual standards of our shelves, ensuring our wide variety of quality products are stocked, faced, and ready for our community.

Requirements

  • Experience: None required; we are a "Teaching Store." We value authenticity, a "Main Street" work ethic, and a history of personal resilience.
  • Age Requirement: 19+ Years Old (Must be willing to handle tobacco sales).
  • Skills: Basic math proficiency, the ability to memorize 100+ codes, and a commitment to honest, direct communication with neighbors and teammates.
  • Physical Requirements & Environment
  • Dynamic Movement: Ability to stand for a 4–8 hour shift, lift up to 50 lbs, and assist with deliveries in Southeast Alaska weather conditions.
  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to perform repetitive scanning, bagging, and stocking movements with speed and precision.
  • Operational Hours: Market Center operates from 5:00 AM/6:00 AM to Midnight. Consistent attendance is a baseline requirement for organizational stability.

Responsibilities

  • Master the POS & Floor: Perform accurate Point-of-Sale transactions, memorize produce PLU codes, and maintain a balanced till while transitioning seamlessly between the register and the sales floor.
  • Execute "Hometown" Service: Provide a professional, welcoming experience by assisting guests with product locations and ensuring a clean, organized shopping environment.
  • Product Integrity & Recovery: Stock and "face" grocery items to ensure the store looks abundant; perform strict "First-In, First-Out" (FIFO) rotation to maintain quality.
  • Maintain Storefront Pride: Ensure the foyer, sidewalk, and restrooms meet our high standards of cleanliness, reflecting our pride in our downtown location.
  • Strict Compliance: Adhere to all Alaska state laws regarding tobacco sales and age-verification protocols with 100% consistency.
