Assist Department Manager in planning, organizing, staffing, training and directing Grocery Department associates; perform production and customer service functions; maximize store sales and profits safely and ethically in accordance with policies and procedures. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Assist the Department Manager in organizing work and filling department staffing needs.
Train and schedule associates to provide prompt courteous service to customers.
Respond appropriately to customer or associate comments, complaints, requests, accidents and questions.
Use Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO) to manage ordering appropriate quantities of merchandise and supplies.
Perform and direct others in pricing and displaying of merchandise.
Maintain proper signage, product rotation, freshness, quantity, quality and proper space allocation for merchandise.
Engage and counsel associates in effective merchandising techniques and customer services.
Follow through on implementation of company programs and adherence to company policies and procedures.
Provide Department Manager with input on department budgets, goals and results.
Maintain equipment and facilities properly and safely.
Maintain floor, shelf and grocery areas clean and up to sanitary standards.
Demonstrate the ability and desire to promote, communicate and implement company initiatives.
Perform any and all duties as assigned.

Willing to be flexible and work mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights as the work demands.
Willing and available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Ability to make intelligent decisions quickly.
Able to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations.
Possess abilities and skills for effective production, merchandising and customer services.
Understanding of all key components of department operations.
Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to employment practices and OSHA compliance.
Qualified and able to operate power machinery and work with various job tools.

Grocery retail work experience and/or backup manager experience.
Past work record reflects dependability and integrity.
