About The Position

The Grinder position involves utilizing large swing grinders and small hand grinders to condition parts for defect removal. The role focuses on grinding and smoothing surfaces of parts prior to finishing operations, ensuring quality and safety in the manufacturing process.

Requirements

• Minimum three months of experience in a similar role.
• High school diploma or equivalent GED.
• Ability to legally work in the United States and verification of employment eligibility required.

Responsibilities

• Examine and feel the surface of work pieces for defects.
• Remove defects and/or sharp edges from parts.
• Safely operate manual grinders or swing grinders.
• Replace worn out grinding wheels or disks following safety procedures.
• Perform crack inspections using Red or Green Dye.
• Grind consistent radii of different sizes per operation notes.
• Polish ground areas with finer abrasives to produce smooth surfaces.
• Maintain a safe and organized workstation and follow company policies and procedures.
• Wear PPE equipment as required for tasks.
• Select appropriate grades of abrasive belts, wheels, or disks according to specifications and attach them to the grinder.
• Start the grinder and move it over the surface of work pieces to remove scratches, laminated metal, excess weld material, and burs.
