About The Position

Tyler Union in Anniston, AL offers great opportunities, pay, and benefits! Tyler Union, a division of McWane, Inc. located in Anniston, Alabama has a century of success in manufacturing and selling ductile iron fittings, joint restraints, and valve boxes for the waterworks industry. Perform a wide variety of grinder tasks, including but not limited to grinding ductile iron pipe fittings, ensuring the fittings meet quality expectations, keep work area clean and free of safety hazards, and perform any and all other job-related tasks assigned. Newly hired employees start at $25.60 per hour. We offer company paid life and AD&D insurance, short-term disability coverage, a Company-matched 401(K) plan, and ten (10) paid holidays. General Duties and Responsibilities Promote and uphold The McWane Way principles, values, and behaviors. Adhere to safety protocols outline in the Tyler Union Safety Management Program. Assist supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Follow ergonomic and safe lifting techniques. Perform daily equipment inspections and report any issues. Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities ( Other duties may be assigned.) Read and follow standard operating procedures to determine product specifications. Operate tools such as band saws, abrasive saws, sand grinders, belt grinders, or portable pneumatic grinding tools. Inspect products to ensure they meet quality standards. Monitor equipment for malfunctions and report issues. Use hand tools including hammers, cold chisels, and files. Count finished products to verify order completion. Mark or tag parts for identification. Operate and/or load the blast cleaning machine. Place finished work in the designated container and dispose of scrap appropriately. Clean and lubricate equipment. Record production data such as quantities, meter readings, or production times.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED certificate preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of related experience preferred.
  • Foundry or heavy manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Proficient in using grinders, saws, or other finishing tools.
  • Understanding of ductile iron and how it responds to grinding and finishing processes.
  • Ability to examine parts for defects and ensure they meet specifications.
  • Ability to perform daily safety inspections and identify mechanical issues.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
  • Manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination.
  • Strength and stamina for lifting 50 pounds repetitively.
  • Visual and auditory acuity.
  • Ability to work in high-temperature, high-humidity environments.
  • Comfortable working around dust, fumes, and moving machinery.
  • Capable of wearing required PPE including respirators.
