About The Position

With limited direction or supervision, this machine set-up/operator position requires the set-up of Grinding manufacturing equipment. The incumbent will possess and demonstrate the skills necessary to maintain production requirements and quality standards. Continuous Improvement of processes and products are an ongoing function of this position .

Requirements

• HS Diploma, GED or relevant experience.
• Fluent in English (both strong verbal and written communication skills).
• Ability to complete the Job Skill Training Matrix for a Manufacturing Grinding Set-up Operator.
• Prior experience as a Manufacturing Grinding Set-Up Operator.
• Ability to use all gauges and gauging techniques required.
• Thorough understanding of SPC.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Knowledge in ISO/IATF requirements.
• Ability to set-up and operate one or more sizes/types of manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to consistently meet production and quality standards.
• Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of all required operator documentation.
• Good teamwork skills.
• Ability to identify routine problem causation and correct routine problems.
• Use math skills for blue print reading, gauging and SPC.
• Possess the ability to assist lesser-skilled employees.
• Demonstrate the understanding of the manufacturing process and machine requirements to perform basic and repetitive work assignments.
• Ability to clean and maintain washers and conveyors.
• Knowledge of scale use.
• Provide written communication as needed.
• Must comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and practices.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum one to three years experience in direct or related field.
• Previous problem solving and trouble shooting skills/experience.
• Formal mechanical or technical training.
• Forklift operation/material-handling experience.
• Experience operating multiple-types of manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety rules.
• Maintain a clean, orderly work area.
• Set-up and operate equipment as required.
• Trouble shoots problems resulting from manufacturing processes and/or machine capabilities.
• Perform first piece inspection, monitor the quality of all parts, and make adjustments to maintain quality standards.
• Perform the duties required to record data for SPC, ISO/QS documentation.
• Move material by operating a forklift or using non-motorized devices.
• Perform minor machine maintenance such as oil changes and tightening of bolts.
• Assist other operators as needed.
• Suggest process improvement ideas.
• All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
