Requirements

  • Ability to work closely with others in a cooperative spirit

  • Knowledge of cooking procedures and large quantity recipes
  • Ability to prepare and serve food according to menus and recipes
  • Willingness to train and participate in ongoing staff development programs

  • Ability to relate and communicate effectively with employees, residents, and the general public in a friendly and professional manner
  • Must work scheduled weekends and holidays
  • May be required to work irregular schedules on short notice

Responsibilities

  • Comply with established policies, procedures, and standards, including the Compliance Program/Code of Conduct
  • Follow Residents’ Rights policies at all times
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all resident information, conditions, and family matters
  • This is a front facing position where the Grill Cook is directly in front of customers. Must be able to maintain composure during busy times, while communicating effectively with guests.
  • The Grill Cook is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality grilled menu items for residents, guests, and staff in a senior living community. This role focuses on consistency, food safety, and resident satisfaction while supporting a warm, hospitality-driven dining experience.
  • Prepare and cook grilled items such as burgers, chicken, seafood, and rotating weekly special items according to recipes and dietary guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe grill station before, during, and after service
  • Support all Dining Services restaurants and campus events
  • Follow recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other food items
  • Comply with all HACCP policies and procedures
  • Provide the highest quality of service to customers at all times
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Comply with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures
  • Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments
  • Receive inventory, move and lift foodstuffs, and prepare meals for customers requiring special diets
