About The Position

The Grill Chef plays a pivotal role in the culinary team by expertly preparing and cooking a variety of grilled dishes to meet high-quality standards and customer satisfaction. The Grill Chef collaborates closely with kitchen staff to optimize food service operations and control food costs effectively. By overseeing ingredient preparation and cooking techniques, the Grill Chef contributes to the overall dining experience and supports the kitchen leadership in maintaining consistent menu quality. This role demands a balance of culinary expertise, leadership, and operational awareness to deliver exceptional grilled cuisine in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a grill chef or in a similar food production role within a professional kitchen.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of food cost management and inventory control.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and handle kitchen equipment safely.
  • 2 years' previous related food service experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Extensive working knowledge of food preparation
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt and change in a fast paced environment
  • Good team work approach to daily tasks
  • Able to follow oral and written directions
  • Be able to lift 30 Lbs. and stand for extended periods of time
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in culinary arts or related food service training.
  • Experience in a supervisory or head chef role.
  • Familiarity with menu planning and recipe development.
  • Knowledge of diverse grilling techniques and international cuisines.
  • Experience using kitchen management software or point-of-sale systems.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook grilled menu items according to standardized recipes and quality standards.
  • Manage the grill station workflow to ensure timely and efficient food production during service hours.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the grill area in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor food inventory and assist in controlling food costs by minimizing waste and optimizing portion sizes.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff and head chef to coordinate food preparation and service.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on grill techniques and safety procedures.
  • Ensure all food served meets the restaurant’s quality and presentation standards.
