Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in a counseling field and/or social work is required.
  • Must hold and maintain an active, unrestricted Colorado license (LPC, LCSW, or LMFT) prior to first day of work.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in counseling and grief work.
  • At least one (1) year of experience working with adults and older adults in a related setting.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Able to work in a variety of environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook 365.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, particularly with those experiencing difficult situations.
  • Ability to speak confidently in front of a group.
  • Experience in facilitation of groups of individuals and/or teams.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to client care.

Responsibilities

  • Providing counseling, education and support to bereaved adult and child clients coping with serious illness and/or death of a loved one.
  • Conducting phone calls, individual and group counseling sessions, and group support.
  • Serving as a resource on grief and anticipatory grief for other HopeWest staff and community members.
  • Providing 'grief in the workplace' assistance and education to community agencies and businesses.
