About The Position

This is an entry-level position designed to develop technical expertise in a particular area of specialty within Xcel Energy. The role involves performing work that includes conventional types of plans, investigations, and equipment with limited complexity. The successful candidate will work under supervision, may lead small projects, and will be responsible for supporting various engineering activities.

Requirements

• Required bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET accredited curriculum, electrical engineering degree preferred.
• 0+ years relevant engineering experience.
• Ability to demonstrate unique technical skills and core competencies for this engineering level.

Nice To Haves

• EIT/FE (Engineer in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Uses and applies technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to perform activities/assignments of limited scope.
• Supports the development of technical documentation including designs, testing, calculations, and reports.
• Provides ongoing technical support for project activities within areas such as Operations, Maintenance, and Testing.
• Coordinates/leads projects or portions of projects under the direction of a higher-level engineer or supervisor.
• Supports bid/evaluation processes by performing basic analysis and calculations.
• Effectively exchanges information on matters of importance and complexity with internal and external stakeholders.
• May coordinate the work of interns, drafters, technicians, and provide guidance to less experienced engineers.
• Accountable for the selection and implementation of tools for monitoring and maintaining the distribution grid.
• Supports Distribution System Intelligence efforts to optimize grid performance.
• Supports Control Center Operations on system performance and reporting.
