Requirements

  • Candidates should bring a strong foundation in medical assisting within a dermatology environment.
  • Familiarity with ModMed/EMA is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas for Mohs procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are sterile and ready.
  • Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, verifying insurance information, and explaining procedural steps clearly.
  • Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and oxygen saturation to support accurate clinical assessments.
  • Support physicians during procedures by handing instruments, managing specimen labeling, and maintaining sterile techniques.
  • Operate ModMed/EMA system efficiently to document patient information, procedure details, and treatment notes accurately.
  • Monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, providing reassurance and addressing questions about physiology or anatomy relevant to their treatment.
  • Administer medications or topical agents as directed by medical staff following proper protocols for medication administration.
  • Assist with post-procedure patient education on wound care, follow-up appointments, and medication instructions.
  • Maintain clinical supplies inventory, sterilize instruments including X-ray equipment if applicable, and ensure compliance with safety standards at all times.
  • Support administrative tasks such as taking medically relevant patient phone calls, calling in prescriptions and refills at the direction of the provider, etc.
