About The Position

BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for live plant care and sales, product stocking, and customer service in the greenhouse and Lawn & Garden departments

Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Basic understanding of plants and their care
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Must be able to push, pull, bend, lift, stretch
• Prolonged periods of walking, standing, lifting, and moving items
• Exposure to indoor and outdoor working environments for long periods, including inclement weather
• Saturday availability is required with a day off during the week.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience with plant care preferred, but not required
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Responsibilities

• Interacts in a positive, pleasant and prompt manner with customers in person and on the telephone
• Provides the highest level possible of service to all customers
• Provides advice and guidance to customers related to plant choices and care
• Assists with questions regarding inventory, pricing, and promotions
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the products sold, product usage, product prices and new products
• Ensures products are displayed effectively with direction from the Branch Manager and other store leadership
• Attends and participates in all company-sponsored training programs as required
• Promotes team concept
• Inspects plants to assess quality and identify signs of disease or pests
• Unloads incoming shipments of stock, following proper paperwork protocols
• Communicates with leadership to exchange all relevant information
• Assists customers with loading vehicles
• Additional functions and duties may be assigned by supervisors as deemed appropriate.
