About The Position

The Green Fund is a program of the University of Wisconsin–Madison Office of Sustainability that supports student engagement in projects that address the environmental footprint, social impact, and operating costs of campus facilities. This program contributes toward the achievement of the university’s sustainability goals, including net-zero carbon emissions by 2048 and zero waste by 2030. Specific tasks include: • Support project development, implementation, and reporting, and facilitating student learning throughout the process. o Schedule and facilitate meetings between students and stakeholders to define a project scope, collect data to estimate project cost and impacts, and navigate campus approvals processes. o Support students as they prepare Green Fund proposals ahead of application deadlines, particularly offering feedback on impact calculations. o Serve as a point of contact for course collaborations that add value to Green Fund projects. o Support communications (newsletter articles, social media content, etc.) about projects. o Document project milestones, including financial transactions. • Perform administrative tasks, including maintaining participant contact lists and project tracking systems. • Support event planning and facilitation, including celebrations of completed projects and networking gatherings. • Support program evaluation, including designing and administering surveys and summarizing the resulting data. • Support the Green Fund grant evaluation process. • Participate in Office of Sustainability staff meetings. • Participate in professional development. The Office of Sustainability offers flexible work arrangements with a minimum of 1 day/week in office (80% remote). Must be able to work in-person in the office on Mondays with the rest of the team, and available to be in-office or meeting with stakeholders in person as needed. Final arrangement determined at time of hire. This position could be between 75% and 100%, FTE between 75% or 100% dependent on applicant and divisional needs This is a terminal one-year position with the possibility to extend in future years and ability to convert the position to renewable depending on performance and funding for the position.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies program, needs, contributes to the development of unit workflows, schedules logistics and secures resources for meetings, events, and interviews
  • Utilizes independent judgement regarding development, implementation, promotion, and evaluation for one or more academic programs, initiatives, or events
  • May supervise the day to day activities of one or more academic programs and resolves issues exercising discretion to meet unit goals.
  • Coordinates program components and evaluates program effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement
