About The Position

The Guaranteed Rotating Extra Board (GREB) position at BNSF involves being on call to cover vacancies when permanently assigned employees are absent. This role includes various responsibilities such as janitorial duties, driving crew vans, operating equipment, and managing inventory. Safety compliance is paramount, and employees must adhere to company and federal safety regulations. The position requires flexibility in working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and offers guaranteed 40 hours of work per week.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age by the anticipated start date.
• Valid, state-issued driver's license.
• Ability to report for duty at the designated work location.
• Able to work safely in extreme weather conditions and around heavy machinery.
• Ability to work on call 24/7, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to meet a minimum typing requirement of 25 wpm.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to visually distinguish colors and discriminate between sounds in the work environment.
• Basic level skills in Microsoft Office Suite programs.

• Experience operating material-handling equipment.
• Prior experience in a safety-sensitive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform janitorial duties within the BNSF terminal complex and other locations as directed.
• Drive a BNSF crew van to safely transport train crews within a 30-mile radius.
• Manage inventory by receiving, shipping, disbursing, delivering, locating, and storing materials.
• Operate, service, and inspect a variety of material-handling equipment such as overhead cranes and forklift trucks.
• Assist with rail-switching operations including hook work for cranes and inspection of loads.
• Operate cranes and assist crane operators with heavy lifting tasks.
• Monitor and direct marine and railroad traffic around a lift bridge.
• Safely manage all train and engine movement in and around a terminal complex.
• Remotely operate track switches using a computer to allow for safe train movement.
