About The Position

The position involves officiating games and ensuring the safety and fair play of all participants. The official is responsible for maintaining knowledge of league rules and demonstrating good sportsmanship while interacting with players and parents. The role requires attending all scheduled meetings and games, controlling all aspects of the game, and presenting a professional appearance and attitude at all times. The official must also complete safety checks prior to games, report any damaged equipment or accidents, and maintain a high standard of customer service.

Requirements

• Knowledge of designated sport rules and standard safety practices
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
• Ability to effectively communicate principles of good sportsmanship
• Ability to pass a preemployment background check and drug test
• Ability to respond positively to situations involving patrons and other staff
• Ability to maintain good public relations and customer service skills
• Ability to perform physical activity necessary for position
• Ability to adapt to changing working conditions
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people
• Ability to work with minimal or no supervision
• Ability to maintain order in a group of people
• Ability to maintain professional conduct at all times

Responsibilities

• Attends all meetings and games as scheduled
• Demonstrates the ability to work well with children of all ages as well as parents
• Maintains responsibility for player’s safety, fair play, and good sportsmanship
• Demonstrates the ability to control all aspects of a game
• Maintains knowledge of league rules and officiates accordingly
• Demonstrates fairness, courtesy and consistency with all calls
• Reports to game area 15 minutes prior of assigned game to complete safety checks
• Treats players fair and courteously
• Presents professional and positive appearance and attitude at all times
• Maintains a high standard of customer service
• Possesses mature judgment and sound decision making
• Makes decisions promptly, firmly, and in a fair manner based strictly on rules
• Establishes a calm environment for the game
• Starts and ends all games as scheduled
• Postpones or cancels games in the event of area concerns
• Reports all damaged equipment and accidents to supervisor
• Completes accident injury report forms accurately and in a timely manner
• Professionally answers inquiries from players and the public
