The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate and assign data edit requests, manage the data maintenance process with engineering, operations, and field personnel, and implement data changes from field inspections. This role involves the development of clearance maps, feeder approval processes, and maintaining the quality and consistency of data within the GIS database.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Design, Applied Science, Engineering Technology or related field OR equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak, comprehend and communicate clearly in English.
  • Knowledge of general drafting standards, practices and procedures.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering/construction plans and drawings.
  • Ability to interpret Grid Coordinate Systems (Longitude and Latitude coordinates).
  • Ability to understand and apply General Safety Procedures.
  • Experience using PC-based word processing, spreadsheet, PDF conversion, database and e-mail software.
  • Experience following technical instructions or procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of all lower classifications.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member.
  • Willingness to work overtime on a regular basis.
  • Must pass qualifications tests of Tech and Computer Aptitude.
  • Minimum of five years of experience as a Graphic Editor B.
  • Demonstrated ability to use Computer Aided Design technology at a high level of proficiency.
  • Compliance with NERC & FERC standards requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prints feeder maps as needed, including Feeder Maps, Plats, Progress Drawings, etc.
  • Provides CAD drawings, maps, stored displays, shape files and PGDB files to internal and external customers.
  • Performs Emergency and Storm Contingency Work as needed.
  • Tests all GIS related applications and tools as needed.
  • Edits data/tasks in GIS to reflect field installed quantities of auditable units of property.
  • Follows QA/QC procedures and creates data queries/reports as needed.
  • Recommends productivity improvements.
  • Updates/maintains land base and electric network facility data and maps using GIS/CAD.
  • Posts proposed and final construction drawings as required.
  • Checks for completion of WMIS As-Built jobs requiring manual posting close out.
  • Reviews various reports to ensure data is entered properly as-built in GIS.
  • Keeps track of all requested actions and status of issues.
  • Works in conjunction with supervisor on the development of data model changes.
  • Coordinates work at the direction of immediate supervisor or higher classified Graphic Editor.
