About The Position

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Athletics (Marketing and Fan Experience), the Graphic Designer will collaborate with athletics department staff as an innovative creator. This role is responsible for conceptualizing, developing, designing, and producing original graphic design work, including creating page layouts, managing and producing brand and campaign assets, and applying photo manipulation and typography across various promotional materials to support departmental goals. The Graphic Designer will also mentor and support student design interns and volunteer student staff by providing creative and technical guidance. Close collaboration with the Associate Director of Athletics (Design, Branding and Special Projects) is required to ensure all design work adheres to conference, NCAA, and compliance requirements, while maintaining consistency with established brand standards and seasonal campaign guidelines. The base office for this position is located in Pullman.

Requirements

  • Two years of college-level training in graphic arts, illustration, drafting or closely allied field AND one year of experience as a Graphics Assistant OR equivalent education/experience
  • Experience working with NCAA, conference, university and departmental rules, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated knowledge of graphic design with sports or intercollegiate athletics
  • Proficiency in design software including, but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, Aftereffects)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Outlook, Word and Excel

  • Experience in design and development of promotional materials
  • Work experience that demonstrates the ability to organize, prioritize multiple tasks, work in a fast-paced environment overseeing several projects in tandem in order to meet and/or exceed project deadlines and deliverables
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal relationship skills including work experience that demonstrates the ability to work professionally and collaboratively with co-workers and constituents
  • Work experience that demonstrates the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks, to perform sound decision-making, a positive and proactive attitude and a loyalty toward servitude and professionalism

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualizing, developing, designing, and producing original graphic design work

  • Applying photo manipulation and typography across a wide range of promotional materials that support the department’s key goals and initiatives

  • Working closely with the Associate Director of Athletics (Design, Branding and Special Projects) to ensure all design work aligns with conference, NCAA, and compliance requirements
