The Graphic Designer of Sharp Manufacturing Company of America (SMCA), the manufacturing division of Sharp Electronics Corporation, is responsible for creating assorted types of user documentation, including but not limited to how-to guides, references, manuals, packaging, POP, or instructions. This position will m anage product support printed materials for products and control software, initiate and track development schedules to meet customer/project goals, and is responsible for assigned projects, coordinating task with other departments, and maintaining schedules to ensure completion. The position is an in-office role and based in Memphis, TN.

  • Implements the conceptualization and development of graphics projects having a higher-than-average level of difficulty, complexity, or breadth of scope or for which few precedents exist. Applied to multi- media, graphic user interface, packaging, manuals, POP, related to printed material used for manufacturing and marketing.
  • Contributes to, but works within, established project criteria set forth by other business functions.
  • Oversees material, construction, color, surface finishes, manufacturing processes and packaging in cooperation with other business functions who are involved in the production of printed material or online publication.
  • Works directly with Technical Writer and Industrial Designer for necessary content, drawing, and technical input in printed material layouts.
  • Creates support documentation necessary to convey solutions to management or other business functions.
  • Coordinates and manages in-house printing of production supported printed manuals and literature.
  • Recommends continuous improvement activities.
  • Supports departmental sales, product planning, and business expansion objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Design or equivalent.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of professional experience in Graphic Design.
  • Proficient in Adobe software suite, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator plus base Microsoft Office software.
  • Technical background a plus, but not required.
