About The Position

For almost 30 years, One Off Hospitality has developed and operated some of Chicago’s most beloved places to eat and drink. More importantly, we’re a group of people – chefs, hospitality veterans, managers and creators – who believe in the power of treating our guests like family and our restaurants like home. The Graphic Designer will be responsible for executing all creative assets across all One Off Hospitality brands. Candidates should possess a strong grasp of design elements/principles, creative visualization, and have a strong desire to learn and grow as a designer. The role requires an in-depth knowledge of different facets of graphic design and marketing including but not limited to advertising, digital and email marketing, content creation, brand development, packaging and social media. We’re looking for a conceptual thinker with a high level of execution who is passionate about creating original, meaningful and effective design. Qualified candidates must be able to take direction from written or spoken ideas and translate them into images, layouts, and other design formats. The ideal portfolio will showcase experience in digital and traditional executions with conceptual design, advertising, email, website, promotional collateral as well as showcasing packaging and physical elements. An outgoing personality, fantastic communication skills, ability to work well with others in different positions, a high-level of creativity, a strong attention to detail and an overwhelming love and excitement of food and beverage are necessary. Requirements

  • 2 - 3+ years professional graphic design experience; food & beverage/restaurant experience preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of Adobe products including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop required.
  • Knowledge of Canva (or equivalent platform) required, knowledge of MailChimp preferred.
  • Hands-on experience creating and designing email marketing campaigns
  • A passion for having fun, dining out, and trying new restaurants
  • Ability to multitask, stay organized, and prioritize effectively
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with flexibility in re-prioritizing tasks due to business demands.
  • Strong understanding of how marketing, public relations, business development and social media work together is a must.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as with a team
  • Ability to adapt and work efficiently in a rapidly changing dynamic environment with deadline pressures
  • Ability to be flexible with job demands and open minded when being asked to complete tasks
  • Ability to travel to different locations around the Chicago area, as needed
  • Onsite work environment – comfortable working from restaurant locations.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 8-10 hours a day

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Google My Business, BentoBox, SquareSpace and Later is a BIG plus.
  • Digital photography and editing experience
  • Animation and experience in adobe After Effects is a huge plus
  • Video editing experience is a huge plus

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Marketing Director and Marketing Manager to develop brand identity from strategy and concept to execution. Projects include but are not limited to: email campaigns; website design; menu design; branded/promotional items & packaging; advertising, in-store promotional collateral, logo design and/or refresh; invitation design; social media stories + assets, collateral for sales teams, etc.
  • Responsible for updating marketing assets and information across partner platforms, brand websites, and other touchpoints
  • Work alongside and ideate with Chefs and Managers on collateral needs for events, private events, catering, packaging and more.
  • Bring ideas to the table on new and creative ways to put our brands at the forefront of consumers minds to drive first-time visits and repeat visits.
  • Develop content & campaigns for use within social media.
  • Assist with developing brand guidelines and promotional templates
  • Ensures all brand standards and processes are applied to every design and all production work.
  • Interact with a variety of teams/functions and accept feedback and requested changes.
  • Stay abreast of market trends (food & beverage, lifestyle, etc.) for real-time marketing opportunities.
  • Be an integral part of the marketing team – join weekly marketing meetings and events led by the marketing team. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
