About the position

Dexis seeks a Graphic Designer to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division to advance Corporate Communications. The Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) is a Department of Defense entity responsible for research and development, test and evaluation, engineering and fleet support organization for the Navy’s ships, submarines, military watercraft and unmanned vehicles. The NSWCPD Office of Corporate Communications provides strategic planning and execution support of communication as a function of the NSWCPD goals and requirements. NSWCPD is also responsible for informing stakeholders of technological advances, engaging stakeholders, and promoting success stories involving NSWCPD and partners across the Naval Sea Systems Command. This communication responsibility includes collaborating with research partners across academia, industry and other government organizations. NSWCPD oversees the development, implementation and execution of the command communication strategy, which includes planning and tactics across all targeted stakeholders. This position is onsite 20% of the time and may telework 80% of the time at a designated location in Philadelphia, PA and is contingent upon award.

Responsibilities

  • Provide graphics support of local community outreach events.
  • Develop products that encourage and facilitate interactions between NSWCPD employees and local communities during school visits and student tours of research facilities.
  • Support web management, social media and website improvement coordination, including content development.
  • Provide content management support to NSWCPD for public website, social media accounts and intranet.
  • Provide photographic support of distinct events each year, which may require local travel, portrait shots and capture of technology development, testing and demonstrations co-located with NSWCPD partners.
  • Gather information and materials, as well as planning concepts by studying information and materials, managing workflows and schedules.
  • Initiate illustrated concepts through design, draft and final stages.
  • Complete projects that require coordinating with outside agencies, art services, printers, etc.
  • Create graphic design and layout, provide creative services skills, while being customer focused, showing flexibility and attention to detail, and deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Arts or Visual Arts/Communications from an accredited institution, or mass communications specialist with Defense Information School (DINFOS) accreditation preferred, or at least (4) four years of active duty experience as a photo journalist.
  • Three (3) years of experience within the last seven (7) years in graphic design.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance which requires a minimum of US Citizenship.
  • Expert familiarity with Adobe Cloud Creative Suite to create content to support media releases.
  • Ability to reside and work in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the duration of the contract.
