The Department’s areas of regulation have a direct and obvious impact on North Carolina citizens; These citizens look for accountability and expect their Department of Insurance to work for them. It is the goal of the Public Information Office to keep the public informed of the services provided by the Department of Insurance and to assure the public that DOI is fulfilling its purpose as a state agency. The Public Information Office accomplishes this goal by communicating directly with citizens, with members of the media and, on occasion, with other governmental officials and/or legislators. Methods of communication include verbal discussions and interviews, written correspondence, emails, speeches, and letters written for the Commissioner, maintenance of comprehensive Web site and the publication of educational and informative materials. The Public Information Office is the primary source for development, design and production of printed media for use in publications, brochures, and Web applications. Primary Purpose of the Position: This position, through computers and technology, performs a range of graphic design functions used in promotional, instructional, and educational materials. Creates visible images that can be used in digital media and print. This position is the Digital Media team lead on graphic design work and includes consulting with division heads and agency leadership as well as, creating, designing, and delivering products that visually communicate information through avenues such as digital communication campaigns, catalogs, brochures, books, magazines, banners, web pages, logos, invitations, posters, advertising, teaching aids, and exhibits. Position executes visual representations by using software and hardware, hand-rendering, various printing practices, and graphic design techniques to meet the needs of the client. Position is responsible for consulting with clients to determine project parameters such as purpose, audience, conceptual focus, and scope and concept cost options. Position works independently; work is reviewed for quality and design concept.
